Following the success of the sound installation "Ninfas da Loucura" (Nymphs of Madness), presented at the third MERCOSUR BIENAL - which was attended by over 9,000 visitors - the internationally awarded music producer and sound designer Ticiano Paludo presents his new artistic creation. "SEX, MACHINES AND ROCK'N'ROLL" - SOUND INSTALLATION - WORKS WITH THE UNION OF 3 BASIC CONCEPTS: COLD, MECHANICAL SEX, AS A FORM OF DEGRADATION OF HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS; MACHINES, WHICH AT THE SAME TIME AS THEY FASCINATE MAN, MAKE HIM A SLAVE, SINCE HE CAN NO LONGER LIVE WITHOUT THEIR PRESENCE; AND ROCK, A STYLE THAT HAD ITS HEYDAY IN THE LATE 1960s AND REPRESENTS THE VISCERAL ENERGY PRESENT IN HUMANITY. THIS CONCEPTUAL UNION FORMS THE SOUND INSTALLATION PROPOSED BY THE ARTIST. LASTING 09 MINUTES (PLAYED IN A CONTINUOUS LOOP), THE REPRESENTATIONS ARE CONSTRUCTED USING THE FOLLOWING MUSICAL CODES/ICONS:

THE ELEMENTS

SEX: sound clippings of onomatopoeia, moans and whispers taken from pornographic movies (here sex is presented in a mechanical way, sex done in a repetitive, mechanical way, without any involvement of love);

THE MACHINES: sound clippings of noises produced by various types of machines (mechanical and electrical) representing a critique of the massification and impoverishment of regional culture in favor of a so-called globalized culture (which began in the era of industrial production);

ROCK AND ROLL: consists of recordings made on top of the other elements (SEX + MACHINES) using only the electric guitar (played by Paludo) as a form of artistic expression, i.e. a mimesis of the visceral energy that runs through the veins of the artists who strum the "barbed harp" and pour out their distorted wrath on the universe in organized chaos. Both in the case of the signs representing SEX and the MACHINES, the artist processed these sound clippings (samples) on a computer, then loaded them into a sampler (a crucial piece of equipment in contemporary music and an icon of collage, construction versus deconstruction and re-reading), causing the noises to generate rhythmic patterns. The sexual elements are also triggered by the sampler, symbolizing the vocalizations of this polyphonic symphony of seemingly chaotic sounds that aim to be reorganized in order to produce experimental contemporary music.

THE CONCEPT SEX + MACHINES + ROCK AND ROLL
Paludo's work has a strong and robust conceptual seam. This sound installation was developed based on concepts presented in the books CIBERCULTURA (André Lemos), O SOM E O SENTIDO (JOSÉ MIGUEL WISNIK) and VISÕES PERIGOSAS (Adriana Amaral). The use of the sampler is directly linked to the production of mass culture (repetition of matrices). Cut-outs and collages are the basic raw material of contemporary musical composition. The MACHINE element (relating both to the machine itself and to man-machine versus mechanical sex) is intended to generate questions about the paths adopted by humanity in the Post-Modern Era (the human giving way to the non-human). The urban noise present in big cities, which often goes unnoticed in its specificities, is placed in the foreground here as an element that generates rhythmic matrices, extracting meaning and beauty from frequencies perceived only as dirt/noise in communication in a less in-depth initial reading. ROCK, which has always had a direct connection with SEX (even artists like Jimi Hendrix made "love" to the instrument during their performances), makes the counterpoint between the organic and the synthetic.

READINGS AND CONCLUSIONS
This installation is an open work. Each viewer will read the codes according to their own particular repertoire. Some will see it as a social critique, others as an anthropological remix. In short, the 3 basic elements of this work, either directly or indirectly, are part of most people's daily lives, as we are exposed to SEX, MACHINES and ROCK AND ROLL on a daily basis. Após o sucesso da instalação sonora "Ninfas da Loucura", apresentada na 3ª BIENAL DO MERCOSUL - que contou com a presença de mais de 9.000 visitantes - o produtor musical e sound designer Ticiano Paludo, premiado internacionalmente, apresenta sua nova criação artística. "SEXO, MÁQUINAS E ROCK'N'ROLL" - INSTALAÇÃO SONORA - TRABALHA COM A UNIÃO DE 3 CONCEITOS BÁSICOS: O SEXO FRIO E MECÂNICO, COMO FORMA DE DEGRADAÇÃO DAS RELAÇÕES HUMANAS; AS MÁQUINAS, QUE AO MESMO TEMPO EM QUE FASCINAM O HOMEM, O TORNAM ESCRAVO, POIS ELE NÃO PODE MAIS VIVER SEM A SUA PRESENÇA; E O ROCK, ESTILO QUE TEVE SEU AUGE NO FINAL DOS ANOS 1960 E REPRESENTA A ENERGIA VISCERAL PRESENTE NA HUMANIDADE. ESSA UNIÃO CONCEITUAL COMPÕE A INSTALAÇÃO SONORA PROPOSTA PELO ARTISTA. COM DURAÇÃO DE 09 MINUTOS (TOCADOS EM LOOP CONTÍNUO), AS REPRESENTAÇÕES SÃO CONSTRUÍDAS A PARTIR DOS SEGUINTES CÓDIGOS/ÍCONES MUSICAIS:

OS ELEMENTOS

SEXO: recortes sonoros de onomatopeias, gemidos e sussurros retirados de filmes pornográficos (aqui o sexo é apresentado de forma mecânica, sexo feito de forma repetitiva, mecânica, sem qualquer envolvimento de amor);

AS MÁQUINAS: recortes sonoros de ruídos produzidos por vários tipos de máquinas (mecânicas e eléctricas) que representam uma crítica à massificação e empobrecimento da cultura regional em favor de uma cultura dita globalizada (que teve início na era da produção industrial);

ROCK AND ROLL: consiste em gravações feitas em cima dos outros elementos (SEXO + MÁQUINAS) utilizando apenas a guitarra elétrica (tocada por Paludo) como forma de expressão artística, ou seja, uma mimese da energia visceral que corre nas veias dos artistas que dedilham a "harpa farpada" e despejam sua ira distorcida sobre o universo em um caos organizado.

Tanto no caso dos signos que representam o SEXO como no caso das MÁQUINAS, o artista processou estes recortes sonoros (samples) num computador, carregando-os depois num sampler (equipamento crucial na música contemporânea e ícone da colagem, construção versus desconstrução e releitura), fazendo com que os ruídos gerassem padrões rítmicos. Os elementos sexuais são também activados pelo sampler, simbolizando as vocalizações desta sinfonia polifônica de sons aparentemente caóticos que pretendem ser reorganizados de forma a produzir música contemporânea experimental.

O CONCEITO SEXO + MÁQUINAS + ROCK AND ROLL
A obra de Paludo tem uma costura conceitual forte e robusta. Esta instalação sonora foi desenvolvida a partir de conceitos apresentados nos livros CIBERCULTURA (André Lemos), O SOM E O SENTIDO (JOSÉ MIGUEL WISNIK) e VISÕES PERIGOSAS (Adriana Amaral). O uso do sampler está diretamente ligado à produção da cultura de massas (repetição de matrizes). Os recortes e colagens são a matéria-prima básica da composição musical contemporânea. O elemento MÁQUINA (relacionado tanto à máquina em si quanto ao homem-máquina versus sexo mecânico) pretende gerar questionamentos sobre os caminhos adotados pela humanidade na Pós-Modernidade (o humano dando lugar ao não-humano). O ruído urbano presente nas grandes cidades, que muitas vezes passa despercebido em suas especificidades, é aqui colocado em primeiro plano como elemento gerador de matrizes rítmicas, extraindo significado e beleza de frequências percebidas apenas como sujeira/ruído na comunicação em uma leitura inicial menos aprofundada. O ROCK, que sempre teve uma ligação direta com o SEXO (até artistas como Jimi Hendrix faziam "amor" com o instrumento durante as suas atuações), faz o contraponto entre o orgânico e o sintético.

LEITURAS E CONCLUSÕES
Esta instalação é uma obra aberta. Cada espetador lerá os códigos de acordo com o seu próprio repertório particular. Uns vêem-na como uma crítica social, outros como uma mistura antropológica. Em suma, os 3 elementos básicos desta obra, direta ou indiretamente, fazem parte do quotidiano da maioria das pessoas, uma vez que estamos diariamente expostos ao SEXO, às MÁQUINAS e ao ROCK AND ROLL.
